Alia Bhatt thinks that’s why she isn’t offered comedy movies, recalls being obsessed with Govinda and Karisma as a child

Alia Bhatt is the star of the moment. Its first Darlings production film is set to be released next month and the trailer is already receiving rave reviews on social media. Starring Alia, Darlings is a dark comedy that also features Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. In 10 years of career, Darlings is the very first black comedy of Alia. Now, in a recent chat, Alia explained why she wasn’t offered comedy movies. She also talked about her love for Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.

Alia Bhatt: People think I’m a serious actor

In a chat with India Today, the producer-actor of Darlings talked about making a comedy film. The actress was asked about her Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-star Ranveer Singh’s comment about wanting to do a comedy movie with Alia. Alia clarified that she and Ranveer were not doing comedy movies. However, she added that in her real life she is “very funny”. She also said that people see her as a “serious type actress” and therefore she doesn’t get comedy movie offers. Alia said, “People think I’m a serious type actor, and they don’t come at me with comedy.” Additionally, Alia said that because of this, she was excited about Darlings, which is a combination of emotion and comedy.

The mother-to-be also added, “In my opinion, if I can make you laugh, then I can make you cry. Now I don’t just want to stress you out with intense and all, I also want to make you laugh a little too. .” She then revealed that she grew up watching movies like Biwi No 1 and Coolie No 1 and that Govinda and Karisma Kapoor were her childhood obsession. Praising Govinda and his acting skills, Alia said, “I grew up in Govinda’s time. You talk about acting, he could do anything, comedy, serious scenes, romance, dancing, everything, and you don’t never look away.”

At the Darlings trailer launch event, Alia expressed her excitement about being a first-time producer. She also explained how supportive her co-producer Shah Rukh Khan was. Alia revealed that when Shah Rukh saw Darlings, he messaged him in the same language used in the film and congratulated him. Directed by Jasmeet K Reen, Darlings is now set to hit Netflix on August 5, 2022.

Besides that, Alia will be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Ranveer Singh. It is directed by Karan Johar and is expected to be released next year. She also has Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor. It is set to hit screens on September 9, 2022.
