GREENPORT, NY – A popular restaurant in Greenport recently served as the backdrop for a new indie drama being filmed.
Sharon Sailor, owner of Front Street Station in Greenport, told Patch that the drama “Sometime Other Than Now” was filmed at the restaurant on Monday June. 11.
The film, according to deadline.com, stars Donal Logue of “Gotham” and Kate Walsh of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” and is directed by Dylan McCormick and produced by Michael Goodin of Monolith Pictures, Stan Erdreich of Riverbend Pictures and Jackie Filer of Small Victories Productions .
“They were awesome,” Sailor said, adding that the crew had spotted the location several times before filming. “It was a big production with a lot of planning. They transformed our whole region,” she said.
On the day of filming, crews were at Front Street station from 6 a.m. to around 8 p.m., she said. “There were a lot of people, food, trucks and equipment,” Sailor said. “I made stickers to show what the switches were for. They let us go down and look – and I gave them keys.”
Deadline.com Reports that the plot centers on Logue’s son, Sam, who finds himself stranded after an accident in a small town, “where he finds refuge in a dilapidated motel cared for by Kate (Walsh), an equally burnt lost soul. The mystery surrounding Sam’s presence in town is cleared up when he finds out that his estranged daughter, Audrey (Trieste Dunn), lives there and that he hasn’t seen her for 25 years. “
The bucolic and picturesque North Fork has seen its fair share of film projects in recent weeks.
Last month it was the lights, the camera, the action on North Fork as trailers and trucks lined up on Rocky Point Road in East Marion for the filming of a new HBO series. According to the crew, the series is called “The Undoing”.
A post on HBO.com said the project, which stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, marks a reunion between Kidman and “Big Little Lies” creator David E. Kelley. The series is directed by Suzanne Bier; no start date is available, according to Anne Reilly, vice president of media relations for HBO.
A film crew also traveled to Greenport in March to shoot scenes for a new TV pilot, “Emergence.”
According to Jude Donnelly, co-captain of on-site transport, the pilot was directed by Paul McGuigan, a Scottish filmmaker and director known for films such as “Lucky Number Slevin”, “Gangester No. 1” and “Push”, and episodes of television series including “Sherlock”, “Smash”, “Monroe” and “Scandal”.
In the pilot, Allison Tolman from the television series “Fargo” and Clancy Brown, well known for roles in films such as “Highlander,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” and “Starship Troopers,” Donnelly said.
