Endeavour: ITV teases final season of crime drama series
Endeavor will end after 10 years, it has been confirmed.
The British crime drama, starring Shaun Evans as Endeavor Morse, is currently filming its final series in Oxford – which has been revealed as its final series.
ITV announced today that producers Mammoth Screen and screenwriter Russell Lewis, Shaun Evans and Roger Allam have decided by mutual agreement to end the internationally acclaimed Endeavour.
Executive producer Damien Timmer said in a statement: “Endeavor has been a true labor of love for all of us, and we salute Russell Lewis for his extraordinary achievement in chronicling Endeavor Morse’s coming of age on 72 Hours of Television.
“Russell always knew where he wanted the series to end, and that Remorseful Day is right around the corner! We want to thank Shaun and Roger and all the other members of the Endeavor family on and off screen, as well as to fans of the series in the UK and overseas.
“Russell has plenty of surprises up his sleeve for the final three films, with familiar faces returning and new challenges for Endeavor and Thursday to tackle before the final farewell!”
Endeavor began in 2012 and is the third in the Inspector Morse trilogy series, following the original Inspector Morse, which aired from 1987 to 2000, and its sequel Lewis (2006 – 2015).

Set in the sixties, the series follows a young Morse as he investigates various cases – the first in the pilot episode being a missing 15-year-old schoolgirl.
Among the highlights over the years, Morse was shot in the first series, framed for the murder of a co-worker, his disastrous love life and his struggle with alcoholism.
The ninth and final series is set to air later this year and will consist of three episodes.
