The unassuming charm of Anna faris – his expressive face, timing, and sympathetic address on camera – have been loaned to a cartoon-style comedy since the Scary Movie franchise. But she could be a big star with the right material, maybe something more serious and pathetic. Overboard is not it.
This tense comedy turns on a bizarre duplication of events mentioned in the title. Kate (Faris) is a hardworking single mom with three children and a nurse intern who has two jobs to make ends meet: pizza delivery and contract cleaning.
One day, she shows up on the dock to vacuum the luxury yacht of spoiled and mega-rich playboy Leonardo (played by Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez). He orders her too much, while coming towards her. Kate objects to it and he simply pushes her overboard and walks away. But then he himself falls overboard and loses his memory by running aground on the beach.
When Kate sees a local report on this amnesia mystery, she has the cute idea to show up at the hospital, claiming that he is her husband and bring him home, so that at one point she can force her family. plutocrat to crush him. unpaid cleaning fees.
But, inevitably, this arrogant puppy, due to be a stepfather and housekeeper at Kate’s, begins to learn real family values. He turns out to be quite sweet and quite attractive too. Could Kate fall (overboard) for him? A lot of things revolve around what will happen when Leonardo recovers his memory and how Kate deals with the loss of his moral elevation when he accuses him of lying – all of this is a bit of a rig.
The plot is carefully managed, and the internal feuds of Leonardo’s billionaire Carlos-Slim family are reasonably entertaining. But the funny lines were missing, as was the sparkle between Kate and Leonardo.
